Antoni Arola
Interior and industrial designer, he studied at the Escuela Superior de Diseño Eina in Barcelona. In 1984 he began his professional career at Estudio Liévore y Pensi. In 1990 he joined the company Associate Designers and since 1994 he has had his own studio in Barcelona, Estudi Arola.
Among other awards, such as two Delta de Plata, he has received the 2003 National Design Prize, awarded for "the maturity of a wide-ranging professional career that goes from interior design to product design with great consistency, freshness and emotional charge" (minutes of the jury).
He has developed his work in very diverse fields: lighting projects for Santa & Cole, Metalarte, B&D or Viabizzuno, furniture for Dynamobel, Vilagrasa or ArtQuitect, perfume packaging for Armand Basi, Angel Schlesser, Mandarina Duck, Loewe and Custo; in interior design, the restaurants Mos, Oven or Citrus, the shop Cacao Sampaka or the Vinoteca Torres and the new offices of La Caixa stand out. He is considered a very versatile and original designer, both for his artistic facet and for his inspiration in ancestral cultures, and has always stood out for his particular vision of light, almost sculptural.
